Here are the facts: Coining is the precision way to manufacture a metal product. It involves costly tooling, but it's the only way to get premium quality. The end product is finely formed and has a smooth level quality finish. These black license plate frames are coined from solid premium quality rolled "SHEET" brass as a base material. It takes a 1.6 pounds of brass to make one
black license plate frame. Solid sheet brass is used for several reasons, but mostly because it is hard and has a flat level surface it can be coined to a perfect product. The more
perfect the shape of the license plate frame the better it looks.
Rolled brass has a non-porous surface that polishes perfectly. That means the
chrome plating will be the finest quality finish. A heavy coating of electro-plate nickel goes over the highly polished brass frame before adding
the black. This premium process enhances the luster of the chrome plating.
